Portrait #1, Paris December 2004

Portrait #2, Paris December 2004
Color, silent, 60 seconds

Premise: Self-portrait of me in my studio in Paris on a December Sunday evening. The activity is of me consuming, smoking, drinking- just a typical evening.
I have cut all the actions of my hands entering the frame- it’s kind of twitchy. Reminds me a bit of Francis Bacon and a bit of the Warhol’s portrait after he was
shot, I forget the artist’s name that made the painting. These were not reference points, it’s just something I noticed after the fact. If anything it really sits there
a bit with the screen test films by Warhol.

Exhibition history:
Pepin Moore Gallery, in conjunction with the third annual “Perform! Now!” festival in Los Angeles, CA, 2011.
Christine Koenig Galerie, Vienna, Austria, 2007.
